Notice of Race         2010 Season

Garrykennedy Sailing Club

1.    Garrykennedy SC, which is affiliated to the Irish Sailing Association, will run a series of races in the Autumn of 2010.

2.    Racing will commence on Saturday 28 August and will be run on subsequent Saturdays thru 30 October 2010. Details of these races are contained in the Diary Page of the Garrykennedy SC Web Site www.garrysailing.ie and in the newsletter issued to all members. Note that ‘The Gortmore Bell’ on 11 Sept. 2010 is under the organizing authority of Iniscealtra Sailing Club but is also included in the Garrykennedy SC September series for all competing Garrykennedy SC members.

3.    The races shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012

4.    The races shall further be governed by the ‘Sailing Instructions’ issued by Garrykennedy SC, a copy of which is available for inspection from the OOD. In the event of a conflict between the ‘Racing Rules of Sailing 2009-2012’ and the ‘Sailing Instructions’ the latter shall prevail.

5.    The races are run using the ECHO handicapping system as adapted by Garrykennedy Sailing Club. Handicaps are revised at the end of each racing Month/Series by the Handicap Committee based on performance. The Handicap Committee reserve the right to perform ad hoc adjustments as may be required.

6.     There shall be two classes, Class 1 and Class 2. The classes represent a division of the fleet on Handicap. Classes are displayed on the current list of handicaps available for inspection from the OOD. Classes shall obtain for the duration of a series.

7.    Races are restricted to current members of Garrykennedy Sailing Club except that the Club will run 2 ‘Open’ Races; ‘The Ciss Ryan Cup’ on 25 Sept 2010, and ‘The Visitors Cup’ on 9 Oct. 2010. These ‘Open’ Races are restricted to current members of recognised Sailing Clubs affiliated to the Irish Sailing Association.

8.    Times of registration are as outlined in the Diary under the heading ‘Briefing’.
